Combigan contains the active ingredient Brimonidine which belongs to a class of medications called alpha-adrenergic agonists and Timolol which is a beta-blocker. These eye drops are used to decrease pressure in the eyes of patients with glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
Brimonidine works by reducing the amount of fluid that you make in the front part of your eye (called aqueous humour) and by increasing the drainage of fluid from your eye. As a result pressure is lowered within your eye.
Timolol is a beta-blocker. Beta-blockers work by blocking beta receptors in the eye which reduces the amount of aqueous humour that is produced.
Combigan is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP.
