Repaglinide tablets come in three stengths: 0.5mg, 1mg and 2mg.

 

What are Repaglinide Tablets?


Repaglinide is a treatment for type 2 diabetes used with proper diet and exercise to treat high blood sugar levels.
 

How does Repaglinide work as a treatment for Type 2 Diabetes?
 

Repaglinide works by encouraging your pancreas to produce more insulin. It starts to work quickly so it is particularly helpful in controlling blood sugar levels straight after a meal. Lowering blood glucose.

 

What is Diabetes?
 

Diabetes mellitus refers to a group of diseases that affect how your body uses blood sugar (glucose). 

The cause of diabetes varies by type. However, no matter what type of diabetes you have, it can lead to excess sugar in your blood and to much sugar in your blood can lead to serious health problems.

Chronic diabetes: type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Potentially reversible diabetes: Prediabetes and gestational diabetes.

Gestational diabetes: occurs during pregnancy but may resolve after the baby is delivered.
 

Emergency supplys of Repaglinide:

 

Repaglinide is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP for Diabetes.  You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure Repaglinide is a suitable treatment for you. You will also need to upload proof that you have used this item before. If your order is approved, your Repaglinide can be sent directly to you.

 

Warnings and Precautions

Always take this medication exactly as directed by your GP.

Keep out of sight and Reach of children.

If you are taking any new medications even over the counter medicines whilst taking Repaglinide you should make your GP aware to prevent interactions.

How do I take Repaglinide Tablets?

 

Repaglinide must be used exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure contact your GP.
 

Recommended starting dose is usually:

 

0.5mg to 4mg before each meal. (Three times a day) 

Your doctor may increase your dose as needed.

Dose is usually not more than 16mg per day.

What are the side effects of Repaglinide Tablets?

 

Common side effects:

  • Body aches or pain

  • difficulty with moving

Less common side effects:

 

  • Acid or sour stomach

  • belching

  • burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings

  • cough producing mucus

  • heartburn

  • indigestion

  • weight gain

  •  
  • ear congestion

  • loss of voice

  • muscle stiffness

  • pain in the joints

  • pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones

  • sneezing

  • sore throat

  • stuffy or runny nose

  • tightness of the chest
