Verify logoAs of January 2020, SimplyMeds Online is no longer required to be registered with the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency)

Why has this happened?

Due to Brexit, Pharmacies in the UK are no longer required to be registered with the MHRA, therefore we no longer have an explicit registration with the MHRA, nor do we need to display their logo.

Is SimplyMeds Online still regulated by the MHRA?

Yes. We are still required to obtain medicines from MHRA registered wholesalers only. The UK pharmaceutical regulatory body (GPhC - General Pharmaceutical Council) now carries out the regulatory tasks on behalf of the MHRA in pharmacies, for example, when inspecting a pharmacy the GPhC can take a sample of stock to check its legallity.

In short, the MHRA is still very much involved in regulating the medicine supply chains in the UK, however this now takes place further up the supply chains and not in pharmacies.
