What are Timoptol Eye Drops?

Timoptol Eye Drops contain the active ingredient Timolol. Timolol is a beta-blocker which can be used alone or with other medication to treat increased pressure in the eye that is caused by open-angle glaucoma or a condition called ocular (eye) hypertension.

How does the active ingredient Timoptol work?

Timolol is a beta-blocker. Beta-blockers work by blocking beta receptors in the eye which reduces the amount of aqueous humour that is produced.

Emergency supplys of Timoptol:

Timoptol is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP.  You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure Timoptol is a suitable treatment for you. You will also need to upload proof that you have had this item before. If your order is approved, your Timoptol can be sent directly to you.
 

Warnings and Precautions

Always take this medication exactly as directed by your GP.

Keep out of sight and Reach of children.

If you are taking or using any new medications even over the counter medicines whilst using Timoptol you should make your GP aware to prevent interactions.

How do I use Timoptol Eye Drops?

Timoptol must be used exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure contact your GP.

Recommended starting dose is usually:

Use one drop into the eye (or eyes) affected.

(Some timolol eye drops should be put in twice a day; others should be used once a day only. Your doctor will tell you which is right for you)

What are the side effects of Timoptol Eye Drops?

• Dizziness

• Tiredness

• Changes in your eyesight (blurred vision)

• Drooping of the upper eyelid 

• Double vision which may affect your ability to drive and/or operate machinery

Any concerns or queries regarding any side effects this medicine has caused or could cause you can call your GP or our pharmacist.

If you have any severe side effects seek medical assitance as soon as possible.
