What are Ganfort Eye Drops?

Ganfort contains the active ingredients Bimatoprost which is a prostaglandin analogue and Timolol which is a beta-blocker. These eye drops are used to decrease pressure in the eyes of patients with glaucoma and ocular hypertension. 

How do the active ingredients Bimatoprost and Timolol work?

Bimatoprost works by increasing the drainage of aqueous humour (fluid in the eye) from the eye and reducing eye pressure.

Timolol works by blocking beta receptors in the eye which reduces the amount of aqueous humour that is produced.

Emergency supplys of Ganfort:

Ganfort is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP.  You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure Ganfort is a suitable treatment for you. You will also need to upload proof that you have used this item before. If your order is approved, your Ganfort can be sent directly to you.

Always take this medication exactly as directed by your GP.

Keep out of sight and Reach of children.

If you are taking or using any new medications even over the counter medicines whilst using Ganfort you should make your GP aware to prevent interactions.

How do I use Ganfort Eye Drops?

Ganfort must be used exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure contact your GP.
 

Recommended starting dose is usually:

ONE drop in the affected eye or eyes once a day (morning or evening)

What are the side effects of Ganfort Eye Drops?

Very common side effects:

• Red eyes

Common side effects are

These can occur in 1 to 9 out of 100 users

Affects the eye

burning sensation, itching, tingling sensation, irritation of the conjunctiva, photosensitivity, eye pain, sticky eyes, dry eyes, a feeling of having something in the eye, small damage to the surface of the eye with or without inflammation, difficulty seeing clear, redness and itching of the eyelids, hair growth around the eyes, the darker skin color of the eyelids, darker skin color around the eyes, longer eyelash scars, eye irritation, watery eyes, swollen eyelids, impaired vision.
