Benacort Nasal Spray 64 micrograms - 120 Spray

Benacort Nasal Spray contains 64 micrograms of budesonide per spray and is used to treat inflammation in the nose caused by an allergy to pollen (hay fever) in adults.

Budesonide belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. It works by reducing inflammation in the nasal passages, helping to relieve symptoms such as a blocked, runny or stuffy nose.

Hay fever symptoms this spray may help relieve include sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose and blocked nose.

How To Use

Adults aged 18 years and over:
Use two sprays in each nostril once daily, preferably each morning.
Do not use more than two sprays in each nostril per day.

Not for use in children and adolescents under 18 years.

How to use the spray:

1. Prime the pump before first use or if not used for more than one week.
2. Shake well before use.
3. Blow your nose before use.
4. Close one nostril.
5. Tilt your head slightly forward.
6. While breathing in through the nose, press down once to release the spray.
7. Breathe out through your mouth.
8. Spray up the nose only. Do not spray onto the wall between the nostrils.
9. Wipe the nozzle clean and replace the cap after use.

Ingredients

Active Ingredient: Each spray contains 64 micrograms of budesonide

Other Ingredients: Disodium edetate, microcrystalline cellulose (E460), carboxymethylcellulose sodium (E466), glucose anhydrous, hydrochloric acid, polysorbate 80 (E433), purified water, potassium sorbate (E202)

Caution

Keep out of the sight and reach of children
Read the package leaflet before use

Do not use if:

• You are taking HIV medicines
• You have ever had a bad reaction to budesonide or any other ingredient
• You have a nasal or sinus infection or a fever
• You have ulceration problems in your nose
• You have recently had injury or surgery to your nose
• You have a chest infection
• You have liver problems
• You are using or have recently used another corticosteroid medicine, including creams, ointments, tablets, asthma medicines, eye drops or other nasal sprays

Speak to your GP or pharmacist before use if:

• You are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Your symptoms have not improved after 7 days of use
• You have tuberculosis (TB), a chest infection, chicken pox or measles, or have been in contact with someone who has these conditions

Side Effects

Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individuals differently.

Common (affects between 1 in 10 and 1 in 100 people):

• Dryness in the nose
• Stinging sensation in the nose and/or nosebleeds
• Sneezing

Rare (affects between 1 in 1,000 and 1 in 10,000 people):

• Perforation or ulceration of the nasal septum
• Hoarse voice
• Blurred vision

Tell your doctor if you notice any changes in your vision while using this spray.

Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, hives, or swelling of the face or tongue may occur. Stop using Benacort and seek medical advice immediately if you think you have had an allergic reaction.
