What is Pirinase Allergy 0.05% Nasal Spray?

Pirinase Allergy 0.05% Nasal Spray provides symptomatic relief for up to 24 hours of allergic conditions such as hay fever, pet hair, dust mites, and mould spores. Also relieves nasal congestion.

What is the active ingredient in Pirinase Allergy 0.05% nasal spray?

The active ingredient in Pirinase Nasal Spray is fluticasone propionate. Fluticasone propionate is a corticosteroid. This works by reducing the inflammation that happens in your nasal passages when you have hay fever or an allergic reaction, helping to clear a blocked nose and ease sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and other symptoms for up to 24 hours.

Warnings and Precautions

Not suitable for anyone under 18 years of age.

Do not use if:

• You are already taking medicines for HIV

• You are allergic to any of the ingredients this spray contains

Speak to your GP or Pharmacist before use if:

• You are pregnant or breastfeeding

• If you are already taking corticosteroid medications, e.g. eczema cream, asthma inhalers

• You have or think you have an infection in your nose or sinuses

• You have a high temperature, fever

• You have recently had surgery, an injury, or ulcers in your nose

• You have experienced blurred vision or other visual issues which may be caused by conditions like glaucoma or cataracts

Ingredients

It is an aqueous spray 

Active ingredient: 0.05% w/w fluticasone propionate (50 micrograms per spray).

Other ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl-cellulose, dextrose, polysorbate 80, purified water, and dilute hydrochloric acid.

How do I use Pirinase Allergy Nasal Spray?

Dosage:

18 years and over: 2 sprays into each nostril once a day, preferably in the morning.

In some cases, 2 sprays into each nostril twice daily may be required. Once symptoms are under control a maintenance dose of 1 spray per nostril once a day may be used.

If symptoms recur the dosage may be increased accordingly.

The maximum daily dose should not exceed 4 sprays in each nostril.

Under 18 years: not to be used.

What are the side effects of Pirinaze Allergy Nasal Spray?

Possible side effects:

• Eye problems, e.g. pain, blurred vision (if so do not drive)

• Nasal problems, e.g. pain, persistent bleeding

• Sores on the nose

• Headache

• Unpleasant taste or smell

• Dryness or irritation in the nose or throat

• Nose bleeds

• Sneezing after using the spray, will usually stop quite soon

• Allergic reaction
