Weight Loss

Saxenda Weight Loss Pen

Saxenda (Nevolat) self-injectable pens contain the active ingredient liraglutide and were the first licensed GLP-1 weight-loss treatment made available to the public.

Saxenda itself has been discontinued and has now been replaced with a branded-generic called Nevolat

Initiation with Liraglutide is 1 month, or 3 PENS as it takes around a month to see any noticeable benefit.

Taking Saxenda/Nevolat daily makes you feel less hungry, slows down the movement of food out of the stomach and makes you feel fuller for longer. The effect is a reduced calorie intake, making you, the patient, lose weight.

Lose Weight Effectively with Saxenda/Nevolat

Saxenda (Nevolat) is a weight loss injection pen that can help adults and children who are overweight or obese. The name of the drug is liraglutide.

This injection may be suitable for you if:

  • You're an adult who has a BMI of over 27 and have weight-related health conditions. These can include high blood pressuretype-2 diabetes and high cholesterol
  • You're an adult who has a BMI of over 30 (Obese)
  • Your child is aged from 12-17 and has a weight of over 60kg or 132 pounds (via your GP or Weight Loss services).

Whilst using Saxenda or Nevolat you will need to consume a reduced-calorie diet and increase your physical activity to maximise results.

What is the Active ingredient in Saxenda/Nevolat and how does the injection work?

Saxenda/Nevolat contains the active ingredient liraglutide, which is very similar to a naturally occurring hormone in your body called GLP-1. This injection makes you feel less hungry, slows down the emptying of your stomach and makes you feel 'fuller' for longer. It works by stimulating insulin release and inhibiting glucagon secretion, slowing gastric emptying and increasing satiety after eating.

Wegovy (Semaglutide) is a licensed weight loss treatment also now available in the UK, which works in the same way although it is a different hormone.

How long do people usually use Saxenda/Nevolat for and how quickly can you notice results?

The common amount of time for the use of Saxenda/Nevolat is a few months until you hit their target weight and results are usually noticeable after a few weeks of use.

What Vitamins are Good For Weight Loss?

Several vitamins are considered good for weight loss. Alongside other benefits, Vitamin A, B12 and Vitamin E & A can contribute to weight loss. Vitamin A may contribute to metabolic functions and Vitamin B12 also supports the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates and helps with energy production. Vitamin E is an antioxidant taken to support overall health during weight loss. Vitamins alone do not help you lose weight but can contribute to it alongside a healthy diet and lifestyle.
