Stay Hydrated: Essential Tips for Nutrition and Hydration Week

Mar 17, 2025 Vitamins and Supplements

Proper hydration is key to maintaining overall health, yet many of us don’t drink enough water throughout the day. As part of Nutrition and Hydration Week, we’re sharing practical tips to help you stay hydrated and keep your body functioning at its best.

Why Hydration Matters

Water plays a crucial role in almost every bodily function, including temperature regulation, digestion, and joint lubrication. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, headaches, dizziness, and even more serious health issues over time. That’s why it’s important to make hydration a daily priority.

Top Tips for Staying Hydrated

1. Drink Water Regularly

Aim to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water per day. Carrying a reusable water bottle can serve as a reminder to sip throughout the day.

2. Infuse Your Water for Extra Flavour

If plain water feels boring, add slices of fruit, cucumber, or fresh herbs like mint for a refreshing twist.

Use O.R.S soluble tablets for adding extra glucose, electrolytes and essential minerals to your water - available in blackcurrent, lemon, and strawberry

Always consult with your healthcare provider before starting a new supplement regime, especially if you have an underlying health condition.

3. Eat Hydrating Foods

Many fruits and vegetables have high water content. Cucumbers, watermelon, oranges, and strawberries are excellent choices to boost hydration.

4. Limit Dehydrating Drinks

Beverages like coffee, tea, and alcohol can contribute to dehydration. Balance these drinks with plenty of water.

5. Listen to Your Body

Feeling thirsty is a sign that you’re already slightly dehydrated. Pay attention to thirst cues and drink water before dehydration sets in.

6. Hydrate Before, During, and After Exercise

When engaging in physical activity, your body loses fluids through sweat. Drink water before, during, and after workouts to stay hydrated.

7. Start Your Day with Water

Drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning can help kickstart your metabolism and rehydrate your body after sleep.

Stay Hydrated, Stay Healthy

Making hydration a habit is an easy way to improve your overall health. This Nutrition and Hydration Week, challenge yourself to drink more water and incorporate hydrating foods into your diet. Your body will thank you!
