Start The New Year As You Mean To Go On

Jan 17, 2004 Hair Loss

In order to counteract; dark, dull and depressing December many different religions and societies have some sort of celebration to brighten up the darkest month of the year.

If you have been as, ‘stuffed’, as a turkey, drank like a fish and guzzled chocolate as if there was no tomorrow, you may find that your clothes feel tight and you feel ghastly.

The dawn of a New Year causes us to reevaluate our lives and look at where we can improve them. Most of us who want to improve our health tend to buy a gym membership and forget to use it.

You can improve your health with subtle lifestyle changes that can be achieved with just a little bit of effort.

Weight Loss

This has to be the big tamale where New Year's Resolutions are concerned. Most of us have been thinking about taking the plunge and losing weight long before Christmas seduced us into eating enough food to feed an army.

Weight loss not only makes us look fantastic on the outside, it also ensures that our insides are healthy and that we can combat serious illness like; diabetes, heart conditions, high cholesterol and reduce the risk of strokes.

Unhappiness with our weight can cause depression and low self esteem. Weight loss can be helped by joining a slimming club or dieting with a friend. If you find you are at a plateau with your weight loss you can purchase weight loss products online that prevent the absorption of fat and increases the pace at which you lose weight.

How ever you chose to lose weight please do it healthily and at a pace that you can manage. Information about BMI and weight can be seen on the NHS website.

Hair Loss

Men in particular are likely to notice their receding hairlines and bald patches after meeting up with old school friends and comparing appearance.

Male pattern hair loss is not restricted to men of a certain age, young men can start losing hair the moment they start shaving. In a paradoxical way hair loss is a sign of virility as it can be triggered by the existence of having too much testosterone in your system.

Some men embrace hair loss and will quite happily shave their heads resulting in a strong sexy look that drive women wild. Others persevere with comb overs until a gust of wind comes along and makes them look - bald.

Hair loss can have a negative effect on some men’s lives resulting in either hair transplants or hair loss treatment. Hair loss treatment attempts to stimulate the hair follicles to encourage regrowth.

If all attempts to encourage hair growth fail the best course of action is to accept yourself for who you are and highlight parts of your body you are proud of, like your biceps, six pack or wonderful smile.

Dental Hygiene

In this era of teeth whitening it would be easy to assume that the benefits of a good dental hygiene routine were purely cosmetic. Regularly cleaning your teeth prevents gum disease which in turn prevents cavities, receding gums, loose teeth, teeth loss and in some cases lung disease and cardiovascular problems.

If the whole family adopt a healthy dental routine, which involves brushing your teeth for two minutes twice a day, everyone in your household will have healthy teeth. If you want to go a bit TOWIE, then you can add teeth whitening to your routine.

Dance Like There’s Nobody Watching

Exercise is the key to being healthy, it improves the way our whole body performs and makes us feel good too. Make sure you choose a form of exercise that you enjoy so that you will look forward to doing it.

Getting round to doing exercise is difficult because the less you do the more unfit you get causing it to be a lot of effort. Try to exercise little and often and you will build up your stamina and fitness levels.

Start 2017 as you mean to go on by putting down that chocolate biscuit and taking the dog for a walk.
