Is Kamagra just Viagra dressed up differently?

Is Kamagra just Viagra dressed up differently?

Kamagra – What is it?

Kamagra is a treatment designed to be used for erectile dysfunction (ed/impotence).

It’s made in India by a company called Ajanta Pharma and is supposed to work the same as Viagra but is marketed to act faster.

Kamagra contains the active drug “Sildenafil” which is available generically in the UK but is also the active ingredient in Viagra. It is available as an oral Jelly, chewable tablet and an effervescent (soluble) tablet.

Ajanta Pharma is a fairly new pharmaceutical company and although they operate from a region where regulation is low, their standards and manufacturing are probably of a high standard. In fact they already have a licensed generic Sildenafil tablet on the UK market.

OK....so it is the same as Viagra, where can I get it?

Kamagra is not the same as Viagra.

Firstly Kamagra is not licensed for issue in the UK. It contains as prescription only drug and therefore men that are purchasing this online are doing so ILLEGALLY.

The equivalent legal medicines are Sildenafil (generic), Viagra, Cialis, Spedra and Levitra.

Most sites selling Kamagra in the UK will often use the fact that they don’t have an associated consultation process, a prescriber or a pharmacy as a positive point, citing that it increases patient privacy.

This is not only wrong but is also dangerous.

In the UK the government body that regulates medicines is called the MHRA (Medicines and Health Regulatory Authority).

If a website does not display their logo (found at the bottom of the page on this website) then that website is not selling their medication legally. The MHRA haven’t authorised Kamagra in the UK, therefore use and distribution is illegal in the UK.

So what? If it works it works…..

If a website selling you Kamagra is prepared to operate illegally, then they are probably to using a regulated supply chain i.e. how can they guarantee that what they’re selling you is genuine even if it is illegal?

Taking non-genuine medication is like playing Russian roulette, you could be overdosing yourself every time you take the drug. You are more likely to experience adverse effects that quite often are unpredictable as the contents of the medication cannot be guaranteed.

In the UK nobody can guarantee that the Kamagra they’re selling is genuine.

Secondly if it isn’t licensed in the UK (which Kamagra isn’t) then it hasn’t met UK safety and quality standards yet. In the UK these are set high. All drugs marketable in the UK through online pharmacies meet these high standards.

Even if Ajanta Pharma is producing Kamagra and sticking to the high standards, the MHRA hasn’t confirmed this and therefore one shouldn’t trust buying the product from anywhere until it has.

If you have tried Kamagra and it has “worked” then switching to the legal UK medication would be a safer option for next time.

What are the safe and legal alternatives to Kamagra in the United Kingdom?

In the UK the alternatives known to work are:

  • VIAGRA (Branded Sildenafil from Pfizer) – has the active ingredient Sildenafil which is what Kamagra claims is also its active ingredient. Viagra was the first drug of its kind to meet the stringent UK standards and is a well-known medication with a very good efficacy profile (lots of evidence to prove it actually works). It also has an extensive recorded side effect profile (we know what the common side effects are and how to manage them).
  • SILDENAFIL (generic) – Same as Viagra but now manufactured by other companies other than Pfizer. Prices are more competitive (cheaper) than Viagra and to receive licensing in the UK quality also has to be on par. Definitely more cost effective for patients.
  • CIALIS – has the active ingredient Tadalafil. It works similarly to sildenafil. The advantages that Cialis has over Viagra/sildenafil are that it works for longer (up to 36 hours for some patients) and it is also available as a ONCE DAILY low dose which means less planning.
  • LEVITRA – contains the active substance Vardenafil and works similarly to sildenafil but is associated with less side effects.
  • SPEDRA – is the latest medicine to enter the market and contains the active Avanafil. Again it works similarly to sildenafil but gets to work quicker, with some patients experiencing its full effects within 15 minutes of taking the tablet.
