Erectile Dysfunction Or Performance Anxiety?

Erectile Dysfunction Or Performance Anxiety?

Feb 10, 2018 Erectile Dysfunction

James Bond never fell victim to erectile dysfunction and his performance in bed was insatiable. His sexual prowess crossed enemy lines and female agents from both sides clamoured to go undercover with him.

His enemies failed to outsmart him many times and yet he escaped unscathed in his freshly pressed suit.  He epitomises the confidence men seek when seducing a woman.

Erectile dysfunction is also known as impotence is the inability to maintain an erection during intercourse. Performance anxiety causes impotence because men feel under pressure to be sex gods and panic.

Other reasons for erectile dysfunction include; stress, depression, neurological damage, heart conditions and relationship problems.  One instance of impotence causes a vicious cycle of anxiety and erectile dysfunction.

Treatments include talk therapy, lifestyle changes, testosterone injections, implants, surgery, medication and supplements.  Your doctor will prescribe the appropriate treatment when they determine the cause.  Erectile dysfunction due to performance anxiety usually ceases when the man gets more confident.

What Is Erectile Dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction is also known as impotence.  It basically means that the man can’t have sexual intercourse because he can’t maintain an erection.  Impotence reduces confidence and destroys relationships.

Men feel depressed and emasculated because they can’t have sex. Emotional stress destroys erections but is fixable with changes in attitude and approach to life. Some of the psychological effects of impotence can be seen here.

Underlying health conditions such as; heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, neurological conditions and obesity cause impotence.  Medication for health conditions also affects a man’s ability to maintain an erection.

Anabolic steroids, hair loss treatment and medication to shrink an enlarged prostate also cause erectile dysfunction. Treatment depends on the cause and how it affects your health.

Treatments

There are a number of treatments for erectile dysfunction.  Medication such as Viagra, Tadalafil and Cialis relax the blood vessels in the penis so it becomes erect.

You can take only one tablet every 24 hours and must engage in foreplay. Men with heart conditions cannot take this type of treatment because it is bad for their health.

Alternatives to tablets include a vacuum pump which draws blood into the penis and keeps it erect.  Quitting smoking, drinking less and weight loss are positive lifestyle changes that could solve impotence.

Interesting sounding supplements like Horny Goat Weed possibly cure erectile dysfunction.  Talk therapy and counselling help to relieve stress and helps to overcome impotence.

The NHS suggest some of the lifestyle changes listed here. If the reason for erectile dysfunction is physical surgery is an option.  Penile implants are also an option.

20% Of Cases Are Psychological

If the cause is performance anxiety, erectile dysfunction can be fixed with a change of attitude. Men of all ages suffer from impotence at some time in their lives.  Stress and anxiety are major causes.

Cognitive behaviour therapy changes the way we approach life and helps to overcome the fear that results in impotence. Thinking positively and believing in yourself will improve your confidence.

Imagining that you have the finesse and sexual prowess of James Bond could result in you being as successful in bed as he is.
