What is Doxycycline for Acne?

Doxycycline is an antibiotic that is highly effective for treating moderate to severe inflammatory acne or mild acne that is not improving with other treatments. It calms redness and improves the visibility of pus-filled acne. It belongs to the tetracycline class of antibiotics and works by preventing the growth of bacteria on the skin. This type of bacteria is called Cutibacterium acnes.  

It is generally recommended that you take doxycycline alongside a topical acne medication for best results. It may take up to 2 weeks before you notice improvements and you may need to take Doxycycline for up to 12 weeks to address the bacteria that are causing your symptoms.  

Is Doxycycline Good for Acne?

There are a number of reasons why doxycycline helps with acne, including:

• Improving redness and inflammation of the skin 
• Your acne may start improving in as little as 2 weeks and best results after 12 weeks 
• For best results use a topical acne medication alongside these tablets 
• Effective acne treatment that is used to treat moderate to severe inflammatory acne, or mild inflammatory acne that is not getting better with other treatments 
• Prevents breakouts by reducing the replication of bacteria

ONE CAPSULE to be taken DAILY for acne. Taken for a maximum of 3 months per course.

Do not take indigestion remedies 2 hours before or after you take this medicine.

Protect your skin from sunlight as doxycycline can cause photsensitivity.

Like all medicines, Doxycycline can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Generally, side effects are mild however, you should be aware of the photosensitive side effects associated with Doxycycline.
