Zineryt Solution: Things you need to know

What is Zineryt Solution?

 

Zineryt solution contains 2 active ingredients: erythromycin and zinc acetate. This treatment is a prescription treatment used for acne.

 

Erythromycin:

This drug is an antibiotic and works to kill the germs (bacteria) that can contribute to acne. They also reduce inflammation. 

Erythromycin clears acne spots, which are inflamed and any surrounding skin inflammation.

 

Zinc Acetate:

This drug works as an aid in skin healing.

 

What is Acne? 

Acne is a common cause of spots. Small sebaceous glands lie just under your skin surface and make an oil called sebum. This keeps your skin supple and smooth. Tiny pores on your skin allow the sebum to come onto the surface of your skin. In acne, some of these pores become blocked, causing spots.

 

Warning and Precautions:

  • If you are trying to get pregnant, are pregnant or breastfeeding, you need to make sure you make your GP or our pharmacist aware before using.
  • If you have any allergies to the ingredients in this treatment, you need to make sure your GP or our pharmacist is aware before using.
  • If you have suffered any allergic reactions to any skin preparations in the past, make sure your GP or our pharmacist is aware before using.

 

Getting the most from your treatment:

  • Regular doctors appoinments 
  • Full course of treatment is usually three to six months
  • It usually takes ten to twelve weeks before you get the full benefit of the treatment 
  • Mild soap and lukewarm water are recommended to wash with as very hot or cold water can make acne worse 
  • Make-up and moisturisers can be applied but make sure you wait until the Zineryt solution on the skin has completely dried.

 

Ingredients:

The active ingredients are erythromycin and zinc acetate.

Other ingredients include:

  • Di-isopropyl sebacate
  • Ethanol.

  • Wash and gently dry your skin
  • Apply a thin layer of solution to the area where your spots occur
  • Use the solution twice a day (preferably in the morning and in the evening)
  • Wash your hands well after use.

Important information:

  • Make sure you have read and understood the information leaflet before using
  • DO NOT use the solution on any areas of skin which are sunburnt or sore
  • Avoid sensitive areas of your skin in and around the nostrils, your eyes and your mouth.
  • DISCARD after eight weeks once the preparation has been mixed. Expiry will usually be on the label to remind you.

  • Skin irritation and burning sensation.
  • Itching of skin.
  • Temporary redness of the skin.
  • Dryness or peeling of the skin.
