What is Elleste Duet

The combination hormone replacement therapy (HRT) Elleste Duet tablets are used to treat menopause symptoms. It contains two active components that mimic the two female sex hormones: a synthetic progestogen (norethisterone) and a natural oestrogen (estradiol).

For women who have begun to experience menopausal symptoms but still have a resemblance of a monthly cycle, cyclical combination therapies like Elleste Duet are acceptable. Elleste Duet is a cyclical medication which induces regular menstruation and lowers your risk of developing cancer.

There are three different varieties of Elleste Duet. The 16 white tablets in the 1 mg pack each contain 1 mg of estradiol, whereas the 12 green tablets also contain 1 mg of norethisterone. The 12 grey tablets in the 2mg pack contain 2mg estradiol and 1mg norethisterone, while the 16 orange tablets only contain 2mg estradiol. All of the white Elleste Duet Conti tablets have a 2 mg estradiol and a 1 mg norethisterone content.

Elleste is an oral medicine, therefore the tablet should be swallowed whole with a sip of water and can be done with or without food. The course follows a 28-day cycle so, begin taking the tablet on the first day of your period. The pill strip indicates which tablet to take.

In the event of forgetting to take the tablet, take it as soon as possible. Yet if you have missed it by more than 12 hours, then skip the dose you missed and take the next scheduled tablet.

As with all medication, side effects may occur though rare here are the possible side effects with the use of Elleste duet
