Weight loss can be difficult to manage alone, especially if changes to your diet and activity are not giving you the results you want. Weight loss tablets may offer additional support for some adults, but they are not suitable for everyone and should only be used when appropriate.
If you are looking for injectable treatment options, such as Wegovy and Mounjaro, then please go to: weight loss injections.
The oral weight loss treatments we offer include orlistat-based capsules and Mysimba tablets.
Orlistat (generic Xenical), Xenical, Alli and Orlos all contain the active ingredient orlistat, which works by reducing the amount of fat absorbed from food. These treatments should still be used alongside a reduced-calorie, lower-fat diet. Orlistat (generic Xenical) and Xenical contain 120mg of orlistat. Alli and Orlos contain 60mg of orlistat.
Although these treatments share the same active ingredient, you should always read the individual product information before use, including how to take it, possible side effects and any precautions.
Mysimba is different from the orlistat-based options; it contains the active ingredients naltrexone and bupropion. They act on areas of the brain involved in appetite, food intake and reward-related eating, and may help some people manage appetite and food cravings. As with all weight loss medication, Mysimba should be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for weight management in adults.
Wegovy tablets are also expected to become available in the future. If/when this treatment is released, it will be an oral form of semaglutide, the same active ingredient used in the Wegovy injection pen. It is designed as a once-daily tablet and would offer another option for people looking for GLP-1 weight loss treatment without using an injection.
Weight loss tablets will have their own BMI requirements that need to be met before they can be supplied.
Orlistat (generic Xenical) and Xenical require a BMI over 30, or over 28 if you have certain weight-related health conditions. Mysimba requires a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 or above if you have certain weight-related health conditions. Alli and Orlos require a BMI over 28.
Your BMI, medical history and other relevant details will be checked during the consultation before treatment can be supplied.
Before treatment can be supplied, you will be asked to complete a short online consultation. This includes questions about your BMI, medical history, current medicines, allergies and relevant health conditions.
Our clinical team will review your answers to assess whether the selected treatment is suitable. If approved, your order will be processed by our UK pharmacy and delivered discreetly. If treatment is not suitable, we will get in touch with you to discuss.
Please answer all consultation questions accurately. This helps our prescribers and pharmacists make a safe and speedy informed decision.
Weight loss medicines should be used exactly as instructed and only by the person to whom they have been supplied. Always read the patient information leaflet before starting treatment, including information about how to take the medicine, possible side effects and when to seek medical advice.
Weight loss tablets are not a quick fix, and results can vary from person to person. They should be used as part of a wider approach to weight management, which may include healthier eating habits, regular physical activity and realistic long-term goals.
Do not share weight loss medication with anyone else. You should also avoid buying medicines from unregulated sources, as these may be unsafe, unsuitable or counterfeit.
