Soolantra (ivermectin) Cream

What is Soolantra Cream (Ivermectin)?

Soolantra cream is applied to the skin to treat spots, pimples and inflammatory lesions caused by rosacea. The primary ingredient of Soolantra cream is Cetaphil moisturising cream, which is gentle for those with sensitive skin. The active ingredient in Soolantra is ivermectin.

Ivermectin is part of the avermectin class of drugs and is known for its anti-parasitic and anti-inflammatory actions.  This cream only has to be applied once a day for results. 

Some studies show that most patients saw visible improvements in their rosacea symptoms in as little as two weeks.

Ingredients

The active substance is ivermectin. One gram of cream contains 10 mg of ivermectin.

The other ingredients are glycerol, isopropyl palmitate, carbomer, dimeticone, disodium edetate, citric acid monohydrate, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, macrogol cetostearyl ether, sorbitan stearate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), phenoxyethanol, propylene glycol, oleyl alcohol, sodium hydroxide, and purified water.

How to use Soolantra cream

Always follow the instructions on use of medication given by your doctor.

Apply once daily for up to 4 months.

If there is no improvement after 3 months of using the Soolantra, speak to your pharmacist or doctor for treatment advice.

Soolantra may cause the following side effects: 

Common side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people): 

• The burning feeling of the skin 

Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people): 

• Skin irritation 
• Itching of the skin 
• Dryness of the skin 
• Rosacea aggravation 

Not known side effects (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): 

• Redness of the skin 
• Inflammation of the skin 
• Swelling of the face 
• Liver enzyme elevations
