Finacea gel for acne and rosacea

Finacea is a topical gel containing a naturally occurring acid, Azelaic acid. Azelaic acid helps the skin cells to renew quicker and helps to kill the bacteria that cause spots and blackheads. It stops spots and blackheads from forming. It helps keep the pores clean, preventing future breakouts. 

It may take up to four weeks or longer before your acne symptoms start to improve. For best results, it is important to be consistent with your use of Finacea gel.

Ingredients

The active substance is azelaic acid (Each gram of Finacea contains 150 mg of azelaic acid).

The other ingredients are: Benzoic acid (E210), carbomers, disodium edetate, lecithin, polysorbate 80, propylene glycol, purified water, sodium hydroxide and triglycerides medium chain.

How to use Finacea

Apply Finacea gel TWICE a day, in the morning and at bedtime. 

Do not cover the area after applying Finacea gel. Doing so may cause too much of the medicine to be absorbed by the body and could be harmful to you.

It may take up 4 weeks or longer before your symptoms improve. Keep using Finacea gel as directed. If your symptoms do not improve after 12 weeks of treatment, tell your doctor.

You should not use Finacea if you are allergic to azelaic acid or propylene glycol.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking azelaic acid topical:

More common side effects

• Burning, stinging, or tingling of the skin
• dryness, itching, peeling, or redness of the skin

Less common side effects

• Blistering, burning, crusting, dryness, or flaking of the skin
• scaling, severe redness, soreness, or swelling of the skin
