How to Switch Weight Loss Injection Providers (Wegovy and Mounjaro)

Whether you’re using Mounjaro or Wegovy, it’s usually relatively simple to switch providers.

A key factor is making sure you have access to your previous orders and previous doses from your current provider, as you will be asked for these. They should be in your name.

Use our guide below to minimise disruption on your weight loss journey.

Research

When you’re deciding where to get your next dose of Mounjaro or Wegovy, always check that the online pharmacy displays its Pharmacy Registration Number on its website. It should look like the below with a direct link to their profile on the GPhC.

Registered Pharmacy

If in doubt, or the registration details don’t match with the website or company name provided on the GPhC website, it’s likely that they are not a registered online pharmacy.

Choose

When you’ve chosen your new provider, review their FAQs or policies and delivery details to find out what they may require from you to make a purchase.

They may ask for:

  • Weight confirmation & BMI - photographic, video, full body or scale confirmation.

  • Provide a unique code - they may ask for this code to appear in the media that they ask you to send

  • Proof of previous dose - images, email evidence, pen evidence of your last dose, when it was purchased and the dose purchased. This could be in the form of an email, screenshot of an order, photos of your prescription and pen.

  • A form of ID - some companies will ask for photographic ID, such as a passport or driving license, to confirm your identity.

Consultation

When placing your order, you should complete a consultation. Either a form or video consultation - if no consultation is provided, in the interest of your safety, avoid purchasing from this provider.

Purchase

After making your purchase, this is usually when the provider will ask you to confirm things such as your weight and proof of previous dose. Make sure to look out for emails and calls from your new provider as these will need to be completed before your order and prescription can be approved.

Review

In all cases, when you’ve placed your order, it will be reviewed by a qualified prescriber, and they will take into account all the information you have provided. If there are any causes for concern, they will be in contact with you.
