What is Zomig Nasal Spray?

Zomig Nasal Spray is a quick and convenient treatment for migraine in those patients who find it difficult to swallow tablets or are affected badly by the sickness and nausea sometimes associated with the onset of migraine. It contains the active ingredient Zolmitriptan which is a 5HT1_b/d receptor agonist ("triptan") which is commonly used in patients with a clear diagnosis of acute migraine that is not well treated by other over the counter medication.

When used at the onset of a migraine, Zomig Nasal Spray can effectively stop a migraine from developing and thus prevent any disruption to the patient's day beyond that point.

Usually, a single dose of the spray is enough to stop a migraine.

Only use Zomig Nasal Spray after your migraine headache begins Don’t use Imigran to try to prevent an attack.

The usual dose for adults aged 18 to 65 is one Zomig 5mg Nasal spray into just one nostril. Don’t use more than two sprays in 24 hours. It’s best to use Zomig as soon as you feel a migraine coming on, although it can be used at any time during an attack. You can use a second Zomig nasal spray after 2 hours, but don’t use more than two sprays in 24 hours.

Zomig Nasal Spray like all medications can cause side effects in some patients although not all patients will experience these. 

Common Side Effects:

• Drowsiness or dizziness, which may affect the performance of skilled tasks (e.g. driving)
• Headache
• Abnormal sensations in the fingers and toes
• Dry mouth
• Muscle weakness or pain
• Feeling sick or being sick
