Novofem tablets

Novofem are tablets used for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopausal women. It helps to relieve the symptoms many women may feel during the menopause such as: 

• Night sweats

• Insomnia 

• Hot flushes 

• Loss of libido 

• Pain during sexual intercourse 

• Dry mucous membranes (eys, vagina, mouth)

• Prevent osteoporosis

• Anxiety, irritability, depression 

Novofem contains the active ingredients, Estradiol and Norethisterone. Estradiol replaces the loss of estrogen production that happens during the postmenopause of women. Norethisterone protects the uterus from side effects that can be caused by estradiol. 

Novafem is more suited to women who still have irregular periods and whose uterus is still present.

Always take as directed by your doctor.

Usual dosing could be the following:

One tablet is to be taken once per day, at approximately the same time each day.

Each box contains 28 tablets

• Days 1-16 Take one red tablet every day for 16 days

• Days 17-28 Take one white tablet every day for 12 days

All medicines can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following list is some side effects that are common when taking Novofem. 

Very common Novofem side effects (may affect more than 1 in 10 people)

• Headache

• Breast pain

Common effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people)

• Increased blood pressure and worsening hypertension

• Vaginal yeast infection (eg, yeast infection)

• Dizziness, insomnia, depression

• Nausea (dizziness)

• Rash, itching

• Vaginal bleeding

• Edema (swelling of hands, wrists, and feet)

• Weight gain
