Kliovance Tablets 1mg / 0.5mg

Kliovance is a continuous combined hormone replacement therapy (HRT). It is used in postmenopausal women whose last natural period occurred in the latest year. It is suitable for women who are more sensitive to hormones as it is a low-dose alternative.  

Kliovance contains two female hormones estrogen and progestogen. 

• (Estrogen) Estradiol replaces the loss of Estrogen production in menopausal women and helps to relieve the symptoms of the menopause.

• (Progestogen) Dydrogesterone is an orally active progestogen. Because estrogens promote endometrial growth, unopposed estrogens increase the risk of endometrial hyperplasia and cancer. Adding a progestogen greatly reduces the estrogen-induced risk of endometrial hyperplasia and cancer in women who have not had a hysterectomy. 

Kliovance are used to relieve symptoms of the menopause. These symptoms are caused by a decrease in the women's hormone estrogen and can cause symptoms such as:

• Night sweats

• Insomnia 

• Hot flushes 

• Loss of libido 

• Pain during sexual intercourse 

• Dry mucous membranes (eys, vagina, mouth)

• Prevent osteoporosis

• Anxiety, irritability, depression

Take one tablet once a day, at about the same time each day. When you have finished the 28 tablets in the pack, start a new pack to continue the treatment without interruption. You can start Kliovance treatment any day of the week. However, if you have switched from another HRT product with which you had menstrual bleeding, start the new treatment right after the bleeding has ended.

All medicines can cause side effects. HRT medication can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following diseases have been reported more frequently in women taking HRT compared to women not taking them:

• Breast cancer

• Abnormal growth of the lining of the uterus or uterine cancer (endometrial hyperplasia or cancer)

• Ovarian cancer

• Blood clots in the veins of the legs or lungs (venous thromboembolism)

• Heart disease

• Ictus

• Probable memory loss if HRT is started over 65 years

The following side effects may occur with this medicine:

Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 patients):

• Headache

• Abdominal pain

• Back pain

• Tenderness or pain in the breasts
