Gina is a film-coated vaginal tablet and helps to relieve vaginal atrophy due to oestrogen deficiency.
Each pack of Gina contains 24 vaginal tablets containing 10 micrograms of estradiol in preloaded applicators. The first pack will last 7 weeks (2 weeks initial dose, 5 weeks maintenance dose). Each pack thereafter will provide maintenance doses for 3 months' supply.
Gina vaginal tablets treat and relieve vaginal symptoms post menopause and is only for use by women over the age of 50 that have not had a period for at least a year.

Gina 10 micrograms vaginal tablets provide a low dose of oestrogen clinically proven to target the cause as well as the symptoms.
Gina has 2 treatment phases:
Initial dose:
1 vaginal tablet daily for the initial 2 weeks
Maintenance dose:
1 vaginal tablet twice a week, leaving 3 or 4 days between each dose
Women who are switching from another local oestrogen therapy, including Vagifem (without a treatment break) should start on the maintenance dose.
Like all medicines, Gina may cause side effects, which are usually of mild to moderate intensity and only last a short time. However, there are some uncommon situations when women will need to seek immediate medical help.
Women must STOP USING Gina and seek IMMEDIATE medical help if they experience:
A serious allergic reaction, which may occur very rarely (<1/10,000 patient years).
Signs may include:
⁃ suddenly feeling unwell with sweating
⁃ vomiting
⁃ difficulty breathing
⁃ rapid heartbeat or feeling dizzy
Signs of a blood clot in the leg or lungs, which may occur very rarely (<1/10,000 patient years).
Signs may include:
⁃ painful swelling and redness of legs
⁃ sudden chest pain
⁃ difficulty breathing

Oestrogen-related adverse events such as breast pain, peripheral oedema and postmenopausal bleeding have been reported at very low rates. If they occur, they are most likely at the beginning of treatment. Sexual partners are not at risk. There are other side effects that have been reported in association with systemic HRT. The risks have been estimated for systemic exposure, so it is not known how they apply to a local oestrogen therapy like Gina, where blood oestrogen levels remain within the normal postmenopausal range.
