What is Hedrin Wash-Out Spray?

What is the active ingredient Hedrin and how does it work?

The active ingredient in Hedrin is dimeticone. Dimeticone is a silicone-based substance that effectively drowns lice by coating them and preventing them from being able to move. This means that the lice will never become immune to this treatment. Unlike other headlice treatments which work by poisoning the lice to kill them.

Warnings and Precautions

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding it is advised you speak to your GP or pharmacist before use.

Children under six months should only be treated under medical supervision.

Keep hair that is and has recently been treated away for naked flames and heat sources.

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients this product contains.

Ingredients

Dimeticone (4%), Nerolidol, PEG/PPG Dimeticone Co-polymer, Silica Sililylate.

How do I use Hedrin Wash-Out Spray?

Dosage:

Adults and children over 6 months:

1. Cover shoulders with a towel.

2. Shake well before every use.

3. Keep the spray approximately 10cm away from the hair.

4. Apply straight onto dry hair, work in with a comb or fingers, and cover from root to tip. 

5. Ensure that the scalp and hair are fully covered and the hair is saturated.

6. Leave for 5 minutes (or longer if more convenient).

7. Shampoo out - Apply shampoo first, before wetting hair.

Hedrin Wash-Out Spray contains an anti-foaming agent so shampoo will not lather readily. SHampoo thoroughly then rinse with water. Apply conditioner as required, rinse and dry. Once dried, if the spray has not been fully removed, repeat Step 7, remembering to apply shampoo directly to dry hair. 

What are the side effects of Hedrin Wash-Out Spray Gel?

Possible side effects:

• Skin irritation. If the product causes a rash or excessive irritation wash it off straight away with normal shampoo and get advice from your pharmacist regarding other products to treat the head lice.
• Flaking of the scalp.
• Itching or irritation around the eyes
