Desloratadine 5mg Tablets: Things you need to know

Desloratadine is a prescription antihistamine used to treat allergies and is very effective against rhinitis (hay fever). It is very similar to the OTC treatment loratadine but is more specific and works better than the OTC treatment in most patients.

 

It blocks histamine receptors which in turn prevents the immune response that causes itching, soreness and swelling from occurring.

 

During hay-fever season it would be appropriate to take the treatment daily and can be used to bring down an allergic reaction once started.

The usual dose is ONE tablet a day with or without food. It can cause drowsiness in a very small number of people but is generally classed as non-drowsy

The most common side effects are:

- Dry Mouth

- Headache

- Drowsiness
