How does Hezkue Spray work?

Hezkue is a treatment for adult men with erectile dysfunction, sometimes known as impotence. This is when a man cannot get, or keep, a hard, erect penis suitable for sexual activity. Hezkue works by helping to relax the blood vessels in your penis and increasing blood flow, so when you are sexually aroused, it is easier to get and maintain an erection. Absorption begins within just 5 minutes*

Data taken from a prospective open-label, single centre, two-way crossover study to evaluate the pharmacokinetics, safety and tolerability of 100 mg of HEZKUE® and 100 mg Viagra® tablets administered orally to 52 fasted healthy male volunteers.3,4
* Data based on mean plasma concentration after application of 8 pumps of HEZKUE® (100 mg sildenafil) vs. Viagra® tablets (100 mg sildenafil). Initial absorption of HEZKUE® (100 mg of sildenafil) was observed within 5 minutes after administration (0.615 ng/mL, p=0.012) vs. Viagra® 100 mg tablets, which showed no absorption at that time. The rate of absorption was not statistically significant overall (for all timepoints). The clinical significance of this has not been evaluated. HEZKUE® should be taken approximately one hour before sexual activity.1

What is Sildenafil?

Sildenafil is the generic version of Viagra and is used to treat men who suffer from achieving and maintaining an erection long enough for intercourse. It belongs to a group of medicines known as phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5) and these medicines work by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, allowing blood to flow in and create the right pressure to maintain an erection. This only works when there is sexual arousal.

Erectile Dysfunction Causes

Lifestyle: Quite often, our lifestyle choices can impact our sexual health. Obesity, alcohol and smoking can affect the ability to achieve and sustain an erection.

Narrowing Blood Vessels: Health conditions such as Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and Cholesterol can all lead to narrowed vessels, leading to an insufficient blood supply to the penis.

Medicinal:  There are some medications which may be prescribed to you by your doctor that can cause ED as a side effect. These include medications for depression, prostate illness, psychotic illness and some heart medications.

Nerve Problems: Some conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis, which affect the nervous system in the body can also lead to ED.

Psychological Conditions: Not all causes are physical in nature; sometimes it can be associated with the mental health of the person. Anxiety and stress can affect libido, therefore affecting the ability to sustain an erection. (NHS)

Sildenafil (Generic Viagra)

You should take Hezkue about an hour before you plan to have sex. The recommended dose is 2ml, equivalent to 50mg (4 pumps) however, your pharmacist will prescribe you the correct number of doses you will need. 

• Shake the bottle vigorously for 20 seconds
• Remove the screw cap and place the dosage pump on top of the bottle
• Turn the nozzle on the dosing pump to the open position
• Activate the pump three times to prime the dosage pump, discarding any product released during this activation. ( Failure to prime your pump may lead to a lower dose when used)
• Tilt your head back slightly and spray the pump directly onto your tongue, swallowing immediately. Each press of the dosing pump releases 0.5ml of suspension containing 12.5mg of Sildenafil.

Hezkue can cause dizziness and can affect vision. You should be aware of how you react to medicine before you drive or use machinery. Hezkue should not be taken more than once a day. Do not take Hezkue together with other medications that contain Sildenafil.

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Side effects with Hezkue® may include:

• Allergic reaction - this occurs infrequently (may affect up to 1 in 100 people). Symptoms include sudden wheezing, shortness of breath or dizziness, swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, or throat. Get medical help immediately if you get any of these symptoms.
• Chest pains - this occurs infrequently (may affect up to 1 in 100 people). If they appear during or after sexual intercourse:
  • Get into a semi-sitting position and try to relax.
  • Do not use nitrates to treat chest pain.
  • Contact your doctor immediately.
• Prolonged and sometimes painful erections - this occurs rarely (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people). If you have an erection that lasts more than 4 hours, contact your doctor immediately.
• A sudden decrease or loss of vision - this occurs rarely (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people). Contact your doctor immediately if this happens.
• Serious skin reactions - this occurs rarely (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people). Symptoms may include severe peeling and swelling of the skin, buccal blisters, bumps on the genitals and around the eyes, and fever. Contact your doctor immediately.
• Seizures or fits - this occurs rarely (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people). Contact your doctor immediately if this happens.

• Headache

• Nausea
• Facial flushing
• Flushing (feeling of sudden warmth in the upper body)
• Indigestion
• Abnormal colour perception
• Blurred vision
• Visual impairment
• Nasal congestion
• Dizziness

Infrequent (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):

• Vomiting
• Skin rash
• Eye irritation, eye discharge / red eyes, eye pain
• Vision of flashing lights, visual clarity, sensitivity to light, watery eyes
• Palpitations
• Fast heart rate
• High blood pressure
• Low blood pressure
• Muscle pain
• Feeling drowsy
• Reduced touch sensation
• Vertigo
• Ringing in the ears
• Dry mouth
• Blocked or congested sinuses, inflammation of the lining of the nose (runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion)
• Upper abdominal pain
• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (heartburn)
• Blood in urine
• Pain in arms or legs
• Nosebleed
• Feeling of heat
• Feeling of tiredness

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):

• Fainting
• Stroke
• Heart attack
• Irregular heartbeat
• Temporary decrease in blood flow to some parts of the brain
• Feeling of tightness in the throat
• Numbness in the mouth
• Bleeding in the back of the eye
• Double vision, decreased visual acuity
• Abnormal sensation in the eye, swelling of the eye or eyelid
• Small particles or spots in the vision, vision of halos around lights
• Dilation of the eye pupil, change colour of the whites of the eye
• Bleeding from the penis
• Presence of blood in the semen
• Dry nose, swelling inside the nose
• Feeling of irritability
• Sudden decrease or loss of hearing

From post-marketing experience, cases of unstable angina (a heart condition) and sudden death have been reported rarely. Most, but not all, men who experienced these side effects had heart problems before taking this medicine. It is not possible to determine whether these events were directly related to sildenafil.
