What are Betagan Eye Drops?

Betagan contains the active ingredient Levobunolol which belongs to a class of medications called beta-blockers.  These drops can be used alone or together with other medicines to lower pressure inside the eye that is caused by open-angle glaucoma or ocular (eye) hypertension.

How does the active ingredient Levobunolol work?
 

Levobunolol works by decreasing the amount of fluid production within the eye. As a result pressure is lowered within your eye.

Emergency supplys of Betagan:
 

Betagan is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP.  You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure Betagan is a suitable treatment for you. You will also need to upload proof that you have used this item before. If your order is approved, your Betagan can be sent directly to you.

Warnings and Precautions

Always take this medication exactly as directed by your GP.

Keep out of sight and Reach of children.

If you are taking or using any new medications even over the counter medicines whilst using Betagan you should make your GP aware to prevent interactions.

How do I use Betagan Eye Drops?
 

Betagan must be used exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure contact your GP.

Recommended starting dose is usually:

ONE to TWO drops in the affected eye or eyes ONCE a day
 

What are the side effects of Betagan Eye Drops?
 

• mild burning in your eyes

• stinging or eye discomfort

• feeling like something is in your eye

• blurred vision

• dizziness

• weakness

• headache

• rash, and

• itching
