Betamethasone Valerate RD 0.025% Ointment (Audavate) 100g

Betamethasone Valerate RD 0.025% ointment (Audavate) is a steroid used to treat skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Betamethasone Valerate RD 0.025% Ointment contains the active ingredient Betamethasone, which helps to reduce the redness and itchiness of the skin. Please note this treatment will not cure the skin condition, but will relieve your symptoms. 

RD is an abbreviation for "Ready Diluted." It has a lower concentration of active component than the 0.1% formulations, meaning it can treat minor skin problems or to maintain control of your skin problem.

• Steroid ointment for the treatment of eczema
• Helps to reduce swelling and irritation
• Must be used with an Emollient such as Diprobase Cream 
• Effective within 2 – 3 days 

Skin inflammation has many causes, but it usually stems from exposure to a skin irritant or an allergic reaction. When this happens, it causes the body’s regulatory systems to widen blood vessels in the affected area, with the result being inflammation. 

Betamethasone targets skin swelling, reducing any discomfort. It works by blocking the release of chemicals that induce inflammation, allowing skin irritation to subside and broken skin to heal.

• Wash your hands
• Gently apply the appropriate amount of ointment to the skin until it is fully absorbed.
• Apply to the affected area only, ONCE or TWICE a day

A common side effect of Betamethasone Valerate RD 0.025% ointment is described as follows: 

•  A feeling of burning, pain, irritation or itching where the cream or ointment is applied.

Very rare side effects are described as follows: 

• An increased risk of infection
• An allergic skin reaction where the cream or ointment is applied
• Rash, itchy, bumpy skin or redness of the skin
• Thinning and dryness of your skin and it may also damage or wrinkle more easily.
• Veins under the surface of your skin may become more noticeable.
• Increased hair growth or reduction in hair growth or hair loss and changes in skin colour.
• Thinning of your skin may also damage more easily.
