What is NovoRapid Penfill?
NovoRapid contains the active ingredient Insulin Aspart which is a fast-acting insulin. This is a treatment for diabetes mellitus used with proper diet and exercise to treat high blood sugar levels.
How does Insulin Aspart work as a treatment for Diabetes Mellitus?
Insulin Aspart works by replacing the insulin that is normally produced by the body and by helping move glucose from the blood into other body tissues where it is used for energy. It also stops the liver from producing more glucose.
What is Diabetes?
Diabetes mellitus refers to a group of diseases that affect how your body uses blood sugar (glucose).
The cause of diabetes varies by type. However, no matter what type of diabetes you have, it can lead to excess sugar in your blood and to much sugar in your blood can lead to serious health problems.
Chronic diabetes: type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.
Potentially reversible diabetes: Prediabetes and gestational diabetes.
Gestational diabetes: occurs during pregnancy but may resolve after the baby is delivered.

NovoRapid is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP for Diabetes. You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure NovoRapid is a suitable treatment for you. You will also need to upload proof that you have used this item before.
