What is Corsodyl 1% Dental Gel?

 

Corsodyl 1% w/w Dental Gel helps you target problem areas in your mouth directly and effectively. This gel is an intensive treatment that is formulated to treat and prevent gum problems, such as red, swollen, or bleeding gums.
 

Corsodyl Dental Gel is clinically proven to help put a stop to the first stage of gum disease, gingivitis. If left untreated, this can progress to the irreversible second stage of gum disease periodontitis, which can lead to tooth loss.

What are the active ingredients in Corsodyl 1% Dental Gel and what do they do?

 

Corsodyl 1% w/w Dental Gel contains the active ingredient Chlorhexidine Digluconate. This ingredient acts rapidly, to kill the bacteria that cause plaque within 30 seconds. It also forms a protective antibacterial layer over the teeth and gums to prevent plaque buildup for up to 12 hours.

 

Warnings and Precautions

 

  • Not suitable for children under 12 years of age.

  • Not be used anywhere but in your mouth.

  • Do not use this product immediately after brushing your teeth.

  • Do not swallow.

  • Do not use this product if the expiry date printed on the original packaging has passed. 

  • May cause temporary discoloration of the teeth or tongue. This can be removed by twice daily brushing with toothpaste or by your dentist or hygienist. You can reduce the risk of staining by avoiding drinking tea, coffee, or red wine, especially up to one hour after use.

 

Do not use if:

 

  • You are allergic to chlorhexidine digluconate or any of the other ingredients this product contains.

 

Speak to your GP or our pharmacist before use if:

 

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

 

Ingredients

 

Active ingredient: Chlorhexidine digluconate 1% w/w

 

Other ingredients: hydroxypropyl cellulose, macrogol glycerol hydroxy stearate, sodium acetate, levomenthol, peppermint oil, isopropyl alcohol, water

 

Macrogolglycerol hydroxy stearate may cause skin reactions

 

 

How do I use Corsodyl 1% Dental Gel?

 

Directions:

 

For gum disease:

 

Brush your teeth for at least one minute once or twice daily using 2cm of gel. Continue the treatment for about a month or as recommended by your dentist 

 

For mouth ulcers or oral thrush:

 

Apply the gel directly to the sore areas using your finger top or a cotton bud once or twice daily for at least one minute 

 

For denture sore mouth:

 

Smear gel lightly over the fitting surfaces of the dentures before insertion; cleanse and soak the dentures in Corsodyl Treatment Mouthwash for 15 minutes twice daily or as directed by your dentist

 

After dental surgery or tooth decay:

 

Use as directed by your dentist

 

 

What are the side effects of Corsodyl Dental Gel?


May cause temporary discoloration of the teeth or tongue.

 

If you have any of the following side effects stop using and speak to your GP as soon as possible.

 

  • A severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling of lips, throat, tongue, or face, difficulty breathing)

  • Irritation, soreness, or swelling of the mouth

  • Change of taste or burning sensation

 

Any concerns or queries regarding any side effects this medicine has caused or could cause you can call your GP or our pharmacist.

 

If you have any severe side effects stop use immediately and seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
