Covonia Original Bronchial Balsam Syrup is a treatment for dry coughs, which can be caused by colds or bronchitis. It provides effective relief from troublesome dry coughs and irritation in the throat and chest.
What the medicine looks like: a brown, syrupy liquid. It is supplied in 150ml bottles.
This treatment contains two active ingredients that help to provide relief for dry cough: Dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant, and Menthol, which is a soothing agent with a natural cooling effect.
If you are struggling with sleep due to your dry cough, you can use Benylin Dry Coughs Night Syrup 150ml instead. If you are suffering from a chesty cough, you can use Covonia ALL-IN-ONE Chesty Cough, Cold & Flu Relief 160ml instead.
Active ingredients per 5ml: dextromethorphan hydrobromide 7.5mg, menthol 2.5mg.
Also contains: ethanol, glycerol (E422), capsicum tincture (capsicum oleoresin), peppermint oil, anise oil, citric acid (E330), macrogol cetostearyl ether, caramel (E150), cineole, sodium benzoate (E211), sucrose and purified water.
Can cause addiction
Shake the bottle vigorously.
Take 2 x 5ml spoonfuls every 4 hours if required.

Talk to your doctor before use if you have a history of asthma. This medicine may cause opioid-like effects when used at high doses. This medicine can lead to dependence. Therefore, the treatment should be of short duration.

Drug Withdrawal
When you stop taking this medicine, you may experience drug withdrawal symptoms, which include restlessness, difficulty sleeping, irritability, agitation, anxiety, feeling your heartbeat (palpitations), increased blood pressure, feeling or being sick, diarrhoea, shivering or sweating.
If you have any severe side effects, stop use immediately and seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
