Chlorphenamine Maleate 4mg Tablets (28 Tablets)

Chlorphenamine Maleate Tablets (the generic version of Piriton) help to reduce the symptoms of allergies such as hay fever. It helps reduce sneezing, itching, irritation, and swelling caused by allergies to food, animals, and insect bites.

What is Chlorphenamine Maleate?

These tablets are antihistamines and contain the active ingredient Chlorphenamine Maleate. They can be used to treat itchiness, redness, swelling, and irritation caused by hay fever. It also can be indicated for the symptomatic relief of itchiness associated with chickenpox.

Chlorphenamine Maleate blocks the histamine your body produces when you come into contact with an allergen. This keeps the histamine from telling your body to react to the allergen, effectively preventing symptoms.

Warnings and Precautions

• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Read the package leaflet before use.

Speak to your GP before using if:

• You are taking MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors), which are used for depression or have taken them within the last 14 days.
• You are taking any medications to treat anxiety or help you sleep.
• You are taking any other medications containing antihistamines, including cough or cold medicines.
• You are taking medicines for epilepsy, e.g., phenytoin
• You are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
• You have an underlying medical problem or are taking any other medicine or complementary therapy.

Do not take if:

• You are allergic to chlorphenamine or any of the other ingredients this medicine contains.

Active ingredient: Chlorphenamine Maleate.

How do I take Chlorphenamine Maleate?

Dosage:

Adults: Take ONE tablet every 4-6 hours

Children between 6 and 12: Take half a tablet every 4-6 hours. 

This is not suitable for children under 6 years. Try Chlorphenamine Oral Solution.

What are the side effects of Chlorphenamine Maleate?

Common side effects include:

• Nausea
• Sleepy
• Dizzy
• Difficulty concentrating 
• Dry mouth
• Headaches
• Blurred vision

You may need to lower your dose (12mg in 24 hours) if you experience any side effects.

If you have a severe allergic reaction, stop use straight away and seek medical assistance as soon as possible. If you have any concerns about the side effects, speak to your GP or our pharmacist.
