What is Olbas Oil?

Olbas Oil is an inhalant decongestant oil to help give relief from catarrh, colds, and blocked sinuses.

It is a mixture of essential pure plant oils which provide relief of bronchial and nasal congestion and hay fever by inhalation.

It can also give relief to muscular pain by application to the skin without a greasy residue (not to be used on broken skin). It can relieve the symptoms of: 

• backache
• sciatica
• lumbago
• fibrositis 
• rheumatic pain

Warnings and Precautions

• Do not put drops into the nose or mouth.
• Avoid direct contact with the child’s skin.
• Not recommended for babies under 3 months old.

Do not use if:

• If you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

Speak to your GP or Pharmacist before use if:

• You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Take blood thinning tablets (e.g. warfarin) (if intending for use on your skin)

Ingredients

Active ingredients: Cajuput Oil 18.5%, Clove Oil 0.1%, Eucalyptus Oil 35.45%, Juniperberry Oil 2.7%, Levomenthol 4.1%, Methyl Salicylate 3.7%, Mint Oil, Partly Dementholised 35.45%.

How do I use Olbas Oil?

Dosage:

For inhalation or external use on unbroken skin only.

Inhalant:

Children aged 3 months to 2 years:

Add ONE drop to a tissue and hold it close to but not touching the nose allowing the child to breathe in vapours.

Children aged 2 and over:

Add TWO to THREE drops to a tissue and hold close to, but not touching, the child to allow the child to breathe in vapours.

Adults and children aged 2 and over:

Add TWO or THREE drops to a tissue and inhale the vapours.

Can be used at night or added to hot water. Avoid direct contact with the child’s skin. Not recommended for babies under 3 months old.

Using with Hot Water

Adults and children aged 12 and over:

Day: Add TWO-THREE drops to hot water and inhale the vapours.

Night: Add TWO-THREE drops to hot water and leave in the bedroom to inhale throughout the night.

Children aged 2 and over:

Day: Add  TWO-THREE drops to hot water and allow the child to breathe in vapours. Or leave it in the room out of the child's reach to inhale the vapours. 

Night: Add  TWO-THREE drops to hot water and leave it in the room out of the child's reach to inhale throughout the night.

Children under 2 years: Not recommended

As a rub:

To relieve muscular pain

Adults and children aged 12 and over:

Apply with gentle massage to the painful area three times a day.

Children under 12 years: Not recommended.

What are the side effects of Olbas Oil?

Olbas Oil shouldn't cause any side effects.
