Piriton Allergy Syrup 150ml

Piriton Allergy Syrup is used for the symptomatic relief of hay fever and other allergies, including pet, house dust mite and mould spore allergies. It can also be used to help relieve nettle rash, hives, heat rash, prickly heat, dermatitis and reactions to food, food additives, medicines and insect bites.

The active ingredient, chlorphenamine maleate, is an antihistamine that works by blocking histamine, a chemical released by the body during an allergic reaction. By preventing histamine from acting, it helps reduce allergy symptoms such as itching, swelling and irritation.

Piriton Syrup is also effective in relieving the itchy rash and burning sensation associated with chickenpox and is suitable for use in children from 1 year of age and adults.

How To Use

For oral use. Use the two-headed spoon provided.

Dosage:

Children aged 1–2 years:

• One small 2.5ml spoonful twice daily
• Maximum daily dose: 5ml

Children aged 2–6 years:

• One small 2.5ml spoonful every 4–6 hours
• Maximum daily dose: 15ml

Children aged 6–12 years:

• One large 5ml spoonful every 4–6 hours
• Maximum daily dose: 30ml

Adults and children over 12 years:

• Two large 5ml spoonfuls (10ml) every 4–6 hours
• Maximum daily dose: 60ml

Do not exceed the stated dose.

Active Ingredient: Chlorphenamine maleate

Other Ingredients: Sucrose, Glycerol, Ethanol, Tingle flavour, Peppermint oil, Water, Methyl hydroxybenzoate (E218), Ethyl hydroxybenzoate (E214), Propyl hydroxybenzoate (E216)

Caution

May cause drowsiness. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery
Avoid alcoholic drinks

Speak to your GP before use if:

• You are taking MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) or have taken them within the last 14 days
• You are taking medicines for anxiety or sleep
• You are taking other antihistamine-containing medicines, including cough or cold remedies
• You are taking medicines for epilepsy, such as phenytoin
• You are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding
• You have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines or complementary therapies

Do not take if:
You are allergic to chlorphenamine or any of the other ingredients

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Nausea
• Sleepiness
• Dizziness

You may also experience difficulty concentrating, dry mouth, headache or blurred vision.

If you have a severe allergic reaction, stop use immediately and seek medical assistance.
