What is Ibuprofen 5% Gel?

Ibuprofen Gel can be used to relieve pain & inflammation of muscular and joint conditions such as sprains strains backache rheumatism and minor arthritic conditions. It should be massaged gently into the affected area for soothing muscular pain relief.

Ibuprofen Gel 5% can be used in adults and children over 12 years old.

What is the active ingredient in Ibuprofen 5% Gel?

The active ingredient in this gel is ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is part of a group of drugs known as NSAIDs, which stands for Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. This means that ibuprofen is a painkiller that can also help to reduce inflammation and swelling.

Warnings and Precautions

• Do not exceed the stated dose
• Keep out of sight and reach of children.
• For external use only.
• Not suitable for children under 14 years of age.
• Do not apply to broken, damaged, infected or diseased skin, take care to avoid cuts and grazes.
• Avoid contact with your eyes, the insides of your mouth and nose, or other sensitive areas.
• FIRE HAZARD. DO NOT SMOKE OR GO NEAR NAKED FLAMES; CLOTHING & BEDDING WITH THIS PRODUCT DRIED ON THEM CAN CATCH FIRE EASILY.

DO NOT USE IF:

• You are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the ingredients, aspirin, or any other painkillers
• You have ever had an allergic reaction, including asthma, inflammation of the inside of the nose (rhinitis), or nettle rash (urticaria) brought on by using aspirin, ibuprofen, or similar painkillers
• You have a medical condition that affects how well your kidneys work
• You are pregnant or breast-feeding

Speak to your GP or our Pharmacist before use if:

• You have bronchial asthma or any other allergic disease
• You have ever had a stomach ulcer or any other problems affecting your stomach or intestines
• You have ever had asthma or had attacks of wheezing or asthma
• You have any kidney problems
• You develop a rash after using similar products

Active ingredient: Ibuprofen 5.0% w/w.

Others ingredients: Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium Hydroxide, Benzyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Water

How do I use Ibuprofen 5% Gel 100G?

Directions:

Adults, the elderly, and children over 12 years: 

Use the top of the cap to pierce the metal seal.

Squeeze 4-10cm of the gel (containing 50-100mg of ibuprofen) from the tube and lightly rub it into the affected area until absorbed.

Use every 4 hours as required, with no more than 4 doses in any 24-hour period. Wash hands after each application.

What are the side effects of Ibuprofen 5% Gel 100G?

A slight redness, drying, tingling, or burning sensation may occur when you have applied the gel; this is not a cause for concern. However, if this doesn’t clear up shortly, or gets worse, stop using ibuprofen Gel and contact your GP.

Please stop using ibuprofen gel immediately and tell your GP if you experience any of the following effects:

• Shortness of breath
• Unexplained wheezing
• Blisters or a rash on the skin
• Swelling of the face
• Itching, redness, or bruising of the skin

If you have any severe side effects stop use immediately and seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
