Rosuvastatin comes in four strengths: 5mg, 10mg, 20mg and 40mg 

What are Rosuvastatin Tablets?

Rosuvastatin comes from a group of medicines known as statins. Rosuvastatin is used with a proper diet to help with high cholesterol and triglyceride (fat) levels in the blood.

How does Rosuvastatin work as a treatment for Cardiovascular diseases?
 

Rosuvastatin works by reducing the amount of cholesterol in the blood by blocking an enzyme that is needed to make cholesterol.

What are Cardiovascular Diseases?

Cardiovascular disease includes numerous problems that effect the heart and blood vessels. A person with cardiovascular disease may be symptomatic or be asymptomatic. 

List of most common Cardiovascular diseases:

• Arrhythmia

• Valve disease

• Coronary artery disease

• Heart failure

• Peripheral artery disease

• Aortic disease

• Congenital heart disease

• Pericardial disease

• Cerebrovascular disease.

• Deep vein thrombosis

Problems included in cardiovascular diseases are:

• Abnormal heart rhythms.

• Heart valve disease.

• Narrowing of the blood vessels in your heart, other organs or throughout your body with plaque.

• Heart squeezing (tightening) and relaxation difficulties.

• Heart and blood vessel problems from birth.

• Problems with your heart’s outer lining.

Emergency supplys of Rosuvastatin:

Rosuvastatin is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP for Cardiovascular diseases.  You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure Rosuvastatin is a suitable treatment for you. You will also be required to upload proof that you have had these tablets before. If your order is approved, your Rosuvastatin can be sent directly to you.
 

Warnings and Precautions

Always take this medication exactly as directed by your GP.

Keep out of sight and Reach of children.

Do not eat or drink grapefruit or grapefruit juice, as this can interact with the medicine.

If you are taking any new medications even over the counter medicines whilst taking Rosuvastatin you should make your GP aware to prevent interactions.

How do I take Rosuvastatin Tablets?

Rosuvastatin must be used exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure contact your GP.

Recommended starting dose is usually:

ONE tablet at bedtime

Your doctor may adjust your dose as needed.

What are the side effects of Rosuvastatin Tablets?

Common side effects:

• Body aches or pain

• congestion

• dry or sore throat

• runny nose

• tender, swollen glands in the neck

• voice changes

Less common side effects:

• Accidental injury

• accumulation of pus, swollen, red, or tender area of infection near a tooth

• arm, back, or jaw pain

• belching

• bladder pain

• burning feeling in the chest or stomach

• burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings

• diarrhea

• discouragement

• dizziness

• excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels

• excessive muscle tone

• fear

• feeling faint

• feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings

• feeling of warmth or heat

• feeling sad or empty

• flushing or redness of the skin, especially on the face and neck

• general feeling of discomfort or illness

• heartburn

• lack of appetite

• lack or loss of strength

• lightheadedness

• loss of interest or pleasure

• neck pain

• nerve pain

• nervousness

• pain or swelling in the arms or legs without any injury

• pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones

• passing gas

• pounding in the ears

• sensation of spinning

• shivering

• sneezing

• stomach discomfort, tenderness, or upset

• stuffy nose

• trouble concentrating

• trouble sleeping
