Pravastatin comes in four strengths: 10mg, 20mg, 40mg and 80mg
 

What are Pravastatin Tablets?
 

Pravastatin comes from a group of medicines known as statins. Simvastatin is used with a proper diet to help with high cholesterol and triglyceride (fat) levels in the blood.

How does Pravastatin work as a treatment for Cardiovascular diseases?

Pravastatin works by reducing the amount of cholesterol in the blood by blocking an enzyme that is needed to make cholesterol.
 

What are Cardiovascular Diseases?

Cardiovascular disease includes numerous problems that effect the heart and blood vessels. A person with cardiovascular disease may be symptomatic or be asymptomatic. 

List of most common Cardiovascular diseases:

• Arrhythmia

• Valve disease

• Coronary artery disease

• Heart failure

• Peripheral artery disease

• Aortic disease

• Congenital heart disease

• Pericardial disease

• Cerebrovascular disease.

• Deep vein thrombosis

Problems included in cardiovascular diseases are:

• Abnormal heart rhythms.

• Heart valve disease.

• Narrowing of the blood vessels in your heart, other organs or throughout your body with plaque.

• Heart squeezing (tightening) and relaxation difficulties.

• Heart and blood vessel problems from birth.

• Problems with your heart’s outer lining.

Emergency supplys of Pravastatin:

Pravastatin is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP for Cardiovascular diseases.  You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure Pravastatin is a suitable treatment for you. You will also be required to upload proof that you have had these tablets before. If your order is approved, your Pravastatin can be sent directly to you.
 

Warnings and Precautions

Always take this medication exactly as directed by your GP.

Keep out of sight and Reach of children.

Do not eat or drink grapefruit or grapefruit juice, as this can interact with the medicine.

If you are taking any new medications even over the counter medicines whilst taking Pravastatin you should make your GP aware to prevent interactions.

How do I take Pravastatin Tablets?
 

Pravastatin must be used exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure contact your GP.
 

Recommended starting dose is usually:

ONE tablet at bedtime

Your doctor may adjust your dose as needed.

What are the side effects of Pravastatin Tablets?

Common side effects:

• Dizziness

• fainting

• fast or irregular heartbeat

Less common side effects:

• Bladder pain

• bloody or cloudy urine

• blurred vision

• body aches or pain

• chills

• cough

• dark-colored urine

• difficult, burning, or painful urination

• difficulty with breathing

• difficulty with moving

• dry mouth

• ear congestion

• fever

• flushed, dry skin

• frequent urge to urinate

• fruit-like breath odor

• headache

• increased hunger

• increased thirst

• increased urination

• joint pain

• loss of consciousness

• lower back or side pain

• muscle cramps, spasms, stiffness, pain, tenderness, wasting, or weakness

• nausea

• runny or stuffy nose

• sneezing

• sore throat

• stomachache

• sweating

• swelling

• swollen joints

• trouble breathing

• unexplained weight loss

• unusual tiredness or weakness

• vomiting
