What are Tildiem LA 200mg Capsules?
 

Tildiem LA capsules belong to a group of medicines known as calcium channel blockers. This medication may be used alone or together with other medicines to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).

How does Diltiazem work as a treatment for High Blood Pressure?
 

Diltiazem works by affecting the movement of calcium into the cells of the heart and blood vessels. It relaxes and widens the blood vessels and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart which improve blood pressure and the hearts workload.

What is High Blood Pressure?

High blood pressure is added workload to the heart and arteries. If this added  pressure continues for a long period of time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. High blood pressure may also increase the risk of heart attacks. With controlled treatment of high blood pressure these problems may be less likely to occur.
 

Emergency supplys of Tildiem LA:

Tildiem LA is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP for high blood pressure.  You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure Tildiem LA is a suitable treatment for you. You will also need to upload proof that you have used this item before. If your order is approved, your Tildiem LA can be sent directly to you.

Warnings and Precautions

Always take this medication exactly as directed by your GP.

Keep out of sight and Reach of children.

Do not eat or drink grapefruit or grapefruit juice, as this can interact with the medicine.

If you are taking any new medications even over the counter medicines whilst taking Tildiem LA you should make your GP aware to prevent interactions.

How do I take Tildiem LA 200mg Capsules?

Tildiem LA must be used exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure contact your GP.

Recommended starting dose is usually:

ONE capsule daily
 

• You can take this medicine before or after meals.

• It should be taken at the same time each day, with a glass of water.

• Do not take with grapefruit juice.

What are the side effects of Tildiem LA 200mg Capsules?
 

Common side effects:

• Feeling sick, abdominal pain, indigestion, constipation.

• Dizziness, headache.

• Flushing or redness of the skin, itching.

• A fast, slow or irregular heartbeat.

• Generally feeling unwell.

• Tiredness.

Uncommon side effects:

• Diarrhoea, being sick.

• A feeling of faintness, especially on standing up.

• Nervousness.

• Difficulty in sleeping.

• A worsening in liver function (seen in a blood test).

Rare side effects:

• Dry mouth.

• A raised, itchy rash (hives).

Frequency not known:

• Heart failure which can cause shortness of breath or ankle swelling.

• Inflammation of the liver.

• Changes in muscle tone and/or abnormalities of movement.

• Mood changes, including depression.

• Skin problems such as an increased sensitivity to sunlight.

• A reduction in blood platelets which increases the risk of bleeding or bruising.

• Breast enlargement in men.

• Bleeding, tender or enlarged gums.

• Inflammation of blood vessels (often with skin rash).

• Sweating.

• Low blood pressure.
