Felodipine Modified-Release Tablets

Felodipine MR tablets come in three different strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg and 10mg.

What are Felodipine MR Tablets?
 

Felodipine MR tablets belongs to a group of medicines known as calcium channel blockers. This medication may be used alone or together with other medicines to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
 

How does Felodipine work as a treatment for High Blood Pressure?
 

Felodipine works by affecting the movement of calcium into the cells of the heart and blood vessels. It relaxes and widens the blood vessels and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart which improve blood pressure and the hearts workload.
 

What is High Blood Pressure?
 

High blood pressure is added workload to the heart and arteries. If this added  pressure continues for a long period of time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. High blood pressure may also increase the risk of heart attacks. With controlled treatment of high blood pressure these problems may be less likely to occur.
 

Emergency supplies of Felodipine:
 

Felodipine is a prescription only medicine and an emergency prescription supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP for high blood pressure.  You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure Felodipine is a suitable treatment for you. You will also need to upload proof that you have used this item before. If your order is approved, your Felodipine can be sent directly to you.

Warnings and Precautions:

Always take this medication exactly as directed by your GP.

Keep out of sight and Reach of children.

Do not eat or drink grapefruit or grapefruit juice, as this can interact with the medicine.

If you are taking any new medications even over the counter medicines whilst taking Felodipine you should make your GP aware to prevent interactions.

How do I take Felodipine MR Tablets?
 

Felodipine must be used exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure contact your GP.

Recommended starting dose is usually:

5mg Felodipine - Take ONE tablet once daily.

The dose can be 2.5mg or 10mg once daily depending on what your GP has prescribed.

• You can take this medicine before or after meals.
• It should be taken at the same time each day, with a glass of water.
• Do not take Amlodipine with grapefruit juice.

What are the side effects of Felodipine MR Tablets?

More common side effects:

• Bloating or swelling of face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
• rapid weight gain
• tingling of hands or feet
• unusual weight gain or loss

Less common side effects:

• Body aches or pain
• chills
• cough
• difficulty in breathing
• ear congestion
• fever
• headache
• loss of voice
• nasal congestion
• runny nose
• sneezing
• sore throat
• unusual tiredness or weakness
