Allopurinol comes in two strengths: 100mg and 300mg.
 

What are Allopurinol Tablets?

 

Allopurinol is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. These tablets can be used by patients to prevent or lower excess uric acid levels caused by cancer medicines or in patients with kidney stones. A high uric acid level can cause gout or gouty arthritis. 


How does Allopurinol work as a treatment for Gout?
 

Allopurinol works by decreasing the uric acid produced by the body.
 

 

Emergency supplys of Allopurinol:

Allopurinol is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP for Gout.  You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure Allopurinol is a suitable treatment for you. You will also be required to upload proof that you have had these tablets before. If your order is approved, your Allopurinol can be sent directly to you.


 

Warnings and Precautions

  • persistent nausea or vomiting,
  • dark urine,

  • eye pain, or
  • vision changes.
