What are Paramol Tablets?

 

Paramol Tablets are for the short-term treatment of acute moderate pain which is not relieved by paracetamol, ibuprofen, and aspirin alone. Paramol is suitable for symptoms such as Headache, migraine, period pain, toothache and other dental pain, backache, muscular and joint aches, and pains, and neuralgia.

 

What are the active ingredients in Paramol Tablets and how do they work?

 

The active ingredients of Paramol tablets are paracetamol 500mg and dihydrocodeine 7.46mg, which work together to ease pains that can’t be relieved using other painkillers.

 

Paracetamol - is an everyday painkiller that can also be used to reduce high temperature and fever. 

 

Dihydrocodeine - is a powerful analgesic, which can be used alongside other painkillers to relieve moderate pains.

 

Warnings and Precautions

 

It is important not to take Paramol for more than three days as it can cause addiction and in cases such as a headache, make them worse.

 

Not suitable for children under 12 years.

 

DO NOT USE IF:

 

  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients this product contains
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are suffering from breathing difficulties
  • You are taking antidepressants known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or have taken them within the past 14 days
  • You are dependent on alcohol
  • You suffer from raised pressure within your head or convulsion and acute abdominal conditions
  • You are suffering from diarrhea caused by poisoning or have watery and severe diarrhea which may be bloody, especially if you have been taking antibiotics (pseudomembranous colitis)
  • You are taking any other paracetamol and/or codeine-containing products

 

Speak to your GP or Pharmacist before use if:

 

  • You have any allergies
  • You have asthma
  • You have blood pressure problems or irregular heartbeats
  • You have had recent gastrointestinal surgery
  • You are over 65 years of age
  • You suffer from liver or kidney problems, including non-cirrhotic alcoholic liver disease, or if you have an underactive thyroid gland, prostate problems, gallstones, difficulties passing urine, or bowel problems
  • You have been diagnosed with one of the following conditions: rapid opioid metabolism, Addison’s disease, myasthenia gravis
  • You have a history of mood swings or drug abuse

 

Ingredients

 

Active ingredients: paracetamol and 7.46mg dihydrocodeine tartarate. 

 

Other ingredients: magnesium stearate, maize starch, povidone, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, and macrogol 400

 

 

How do I take Paramol tablets?

 

Dosage:

 

For adults and children over 12 years: One or two Paramol tablets may be taken every four to six hours.

 

Do not take more than eight tablets in any 24-hour period.

 

 

What are the side effects of Paramol Tablets?

 

Possible side effects:

 

  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Stomach pain
  • Diarrhoea
  • Indigestion
  • Skin Rash
