GoldenEye 0.1% w/v Eye Drops Solution 10ml: Things you need to know

What are GoldenEye Drops?

Eye drops for the treatment of minor eye infections and eyelid infections.

The active ingredient, propamidine isetionate, belongs to a group of medicines called antiseptics.  Not suitable for use with contact lenses.

GoldenEye Drops are easy to use and can treat:

Conjunctivitis

Bacterial conjunctivitis is a common condition that causes inflammation of the thin layer of tissue that covers the front of the eye (the conjunctiva). Conjunctivitis is sometimes referred to as red-eye. It can affect one eye at first but usually affects both eyes after a short time. It can occur when you are run down or your immune system is low, which is why many people get conjunctivitis when they have a cold. Conjunctivitis is highly contagious and can be spread easily through contact with the discharge from the eyes. This is why the condition often starts in one eye and then spreads to the other and also spreads easily from person to person.

Blepharitis

Blepharitis is the medical term for inflamed eyelids. Blepharitis can be caused by a type of bacteria that lives on the skin or a skin condition, such as atopic dermatitis. In most cases, both eyes are affected, but one eye can be more affected than the other. The symptoms tend to be worse in the morning. Most people experience repeated episodes followed by periods with no symptoms.

You must talk to a doctor if your symptoms worsen or do not improve after two days.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is Propamidine isetionate 0.1% w/v.

The other ingredients are sodium chloride, benzalkonium chloride solution, purified water, sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment.

  • Always follow your pharmacist’s instructions
  • Wash your hands before and after using the drops
  • Take off the bottle cap
  • Tilt your head gently backward
  • Without touching the eye with the bottle dropper, apply one or two drops to each affected eye
  • Do this up to 4 times each day. This means that you should use it about every 3 to 4 hours throughout the day
  • If improvement does not occur within 2 days, speak with your pharmacist

Do not wear contact lenses whilst using the Drops, as they could become discoloured.

Do not use if:

  • you are allergic to propamidine isetionate or any other ingredient listed in this medicine
  • if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant
  • if you are breast feeding
  • if you wear contact lenses
