Betnovate (betamethasone) RD 0.025% Ointment 100g

Betnovate RD Ointment is a steroid-based treatment specifically designed to manage skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. Its active ingredient, Betamethasone, works effectively to reduce redness and itchiness, providing much-needed relief from the discomfort associated with these conditions. While Betnovate RD does not cure the underlying skin condition, it helps alleviate symptoms, allowing for improved comfort and skin management.

The "RD" in Betnovate RD stands for "Ready Diluted," indicating a lower concentration of the active ingredient compared to the 0.1% formulations. This makes it particularly suitable for addressing minor skin problems or maintaining control over chronic conditions. Its milder formulation ensures effective symptom relief while minimising the risk of potential side effects, making it a practical choice for ongoing skin care needs.

Betamethasone targets skin swelling, reducing any discomfort. It works by blocking the release of chemicals that induce inflammation, allowing skin irritation to subside and broken skin to heal.

Ingredients

Betamethasone valerate 1g contains 0.25mg betamethasone (0.025% w/w) as valerate ready diluted Betnovate 1 in 4

Also contains: white soft paraffin and liquid paraffin

• Ensure your hands are clean.
• Gently apply the appropriate amount of ointment to the skin until it is fully absorbed.
• Apply to the affected area only, ONCE or TWICE a day

A common side effect of Betnovate is described as the following: 

• A feeling of burning, pain, irritation or itching where the cream or ointment is applied.

Very rare side effects are described as the following: 

• An increased risk of infection
• An allergic skin reaction where the cream or ointment is applied
• Rash, itchy bumpy skin or redness of the skin
• Thinning and dryness of your skin and it may also damage or wrinkle more easily.
• Veins under the surface of your skin may become more noticeable.
• Increased hair growth or reduction in hair growth or hair loss and changes in skin colour.
• Thinning of your skin that may also damage more easily.
