What is Dermacort Cream?

Dermacort Cream contains the active ingredient Hydrocortisone 0.1% w/w for the treatment of irritant contact dermatitis, mild to moderate eczema, allergic contact dermatitis, and rashes due to reactions to plants, insect bites, jewelry, toiletries, deodorants, soaps, and detergents.

What is Hydrocortisone and how does it work?

Hydrocortisone, is a steroid that can be used to ease lots of different skin conditions. It helps to ease irritation by reducing your body’s immune response to certain conditions, reducing swelling, itching, and soreness in the process. 

Warnings and Precautions

• Not suitable for use by children under the age of 10.

• Do not use this product if you are allergic to Hydrocortisone or any of the other ingredients.

• Do not use this product if you are pregnant.

• For external use only

• Do not apply to eyes, face, or your anal or genital regions.

• Speak to your GP or Pharmacist before use if you are taking any other medication, especially one used in the same area.

• Speak to your GP or Pharmacist about alternate medication as Dermacort is not suitable.

• Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Ingredients

Active ingredient: 0.1% w/w hydrocortisone cream B.P. in a special lanolin-free cream base.

Other ingredients: Propylene Glycol, Emulsifying Ointment, Citric Acid and Purified Water.

How do I apply Dermacort Cream?

Dosage:

Adults, the elderly, and children over 10 years:

Apply sparingly over a small area ONCE or TWICE a day. Rub in gently until cream disappears.

• DO NOT use for longer than 7 days.

What are the side effects of Dermacort Cream?

Possible side effects and what might cause side effects:

• Dermacort is generally well tolerated and side effects are very rare when it is applied sparingly, no more than twice a day, for up to a week.

• If you experience any signs of allergic reactions to the cream, such as burning, itching, or redness of the skin after applying it, you should stop using it and consult your doctor.

• If hydrocortisone is applied excessively, more than twice a day, for longer than a week, underneath dressings, to broken or raw skin, large areas of skin, or areas of skin that rub together, it has the potential to cause some of the side effects associated with topical steroids, such as skin thinning.
