A little more about Epiduo (0.1%/2.5%) Gel for Acne
Epiduo (0.1%/2.5%) Gel for Acne: Things you need to know

What is Epiduo Gel and how does it work?

Epiduo Gel is a topical skin gel containing Adapalene 0.1% (a retinoid) and Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% (a peeling agent). It is used as an effective treatment for moderate to severe acne. Both of its active ingredients are effective at treating different parts of the symptoms that occur in acne.

Retinoids have very good anti-inflammatory properties but are also effective in unblocking pores.

Benzoyl peroxide is a proven antibacterial as well as being effective in reducing the amount of sebum the skin secretes (often a factor in causing inflammation around spots). It also softens and peels the outer layer of skin.

How long does Epiduo Gel take to work?

Epiduo starts working straight away however as with all acne medicines applied to the skin, you may not see results for up to 2 months after treatment has been started. It is important to be as consistent as possible with your acne treatment in order for it to be as effective as possible.

How to use Epiduo Gel

Epiduo Gel should be applied gently to the acne-affected area of the skin once daily in the evening, preferably before bed. The skin should be cleaned and dried prior to application. Wash hands before and after applying.

Only a thin layer is required for the treatment to be effective, using more will not produce better results but may increase your likelihood of side effects. The gel should be applied with the fingertips, avoid whole hand palm rubbing as this can be more abrasive to the skin. Avoid contact with eyes and mouth.

  • patients using other acne products containing retinoids or benzoyl peroxide at the same time.
