Vitaros 3mg/g Cream Applicators

Vitaros is a topical cream used to treat erectile dysfunction. It contains Alprostadil, an active ingredient which acts as a vasodilator. Alprostadil is also found in other erectile dysfunction products like Caverject and MUSE.

When applied to the tip of the penis, Vitaros works by relaxing the blood vessels, increasing blood flow, and helping to achieve and maintain an erection. The effects typically last for 1-2 hours.

Unlike other alprostadil-based treatments that require injections, Vitaros is non-invasive. The cream is applied directly to the opening of the urethra using a plunger provided in the pack. Effects can be noticed within 5 to 30 minutes after application.

Vitaros may be a suitable option for those who have difficulty swallowing tablets, like Sildenafil, or experience side effects from oral erectile dysfunction medications such as PDE-5 inhibitors. It generally has fewer side effects, interacts with fewer substances, and is less affected by food and drink compared to oral PDE-5 inhibitors. Additionally, Vitaros is suitable for patients who take nitrates for angina or heart disease and cannot safely use oral PDE-5 inhibitors.

How to Use:

• Use the pre-prepared plunger (applicator) to apply ONE DOSE of Vitaros cream to the tip of the penis (urethra) 5-30 minutes before sexual activity.
• Follow the application instructions carefully to ensure effectiveness and minimise the risk of side effects. Only apply as prescribed.
• After application, hold your penis upright for 30 seconds to allow the cream to absorb fully.
• Do not use more than one dose in a 24-hour period and do not apply more than 2-3 times per week.

Common Side Effects (may affect more than 1 in 10 patients):

• In Patient (MALE): Mild to moderate local discomfort, including aching, burning, pain, and redness of the penis; rash; genital itching; penile swelling (oedema); inflammation of the glans penis (balanitis); tingling, throbbing, or numbness.
• In Patient Partner (If female): Mild vaginal burning or itching, vaginitis. This may be due to the medication or the act of penetration. Using a water-based lubricant can help reduce these effects.

Most side effects are temporary and typically resolve within 1-2 hours.
