What is Otrivine Blocked Nose Relief Spray (Xylometazoline Hydrochloride 0.1%)?

Otrivine Blocked Nose Relief Spray 10ml provides effective relief from nasal congestion caused by perennial and allergic rhinitis (including hayfever) and sinusitis. It works within minutes and can give immediate relief, and lasts for 10 hours. Symptomatic relief of nasal congestion, perennial and allergic rhinitis (including hayfever), and sinusitis.

Xylometazoline Hydrochloride 0.1% is the active ingredient that acts as a decongestant to help reduce inflammation of the blood vessels in the nose to clear the nasal passage for easy breathing.

Warnings and Precautions

Not suitable for children under 12 years of age.

Do not share your nasal spray with others (to help prevent the spread of infection)

Do not use if:

You are allergic to any of the ingredients this spray contains.

Speak to your GP or Pharmacist before use if:

• You are taking any other medication. 
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• You have any problems with your heart.

Ingredients

Active ingredient: xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.1% w/v

Other ingredients: hypromellose, sodium chloride, sodium phosphate, sodium acid phosphate, disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride, and purified water.

How do I use Otrivine Blocked Nose Relief Nasal Spray?

Dosage:

Over 12 years: ONE spray in each nostril 2 to 3 times daily.

Under 12 years: not to be used.

Not to be used for more than 7 consecutive days.

What are the side effects of Otrivine Blocked Nose Relief Nasal Spray?

Possible side effects:

• Temporary and passing visual disturbance
• Nausea and headache
• Local irritation and burning sensation in nose and throat
• Dryness of the nasal membranes
• Allergic reactions

Cardiovascular effects such as palpitations might also occur, especially if you have heart problems.
