What is Calpol SixPlus FastMelts?

Calpol FastMelts are nice and easy melt in the mouth, strawberry flavoured tablets. The active ingredient of Paracetamol helps relieve symptoms of pain, high temperature and fever in children over the age of 6 years. Paracetamol is a very popular and effective medicine and is great for children suffering from colds and flu.

Warnings and Precautions

• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Read the package leaflet before use.
• Do not use it if the expiration date printed on the carton has passed.
• For oral use ONLY.

DO NOT USE OR GIVE TO A CHILD IF:

• They are under 6 Years
• They are allergic to paracetamol
• They have phenylketonuria (a hereditary disease discovered at birth)
• Have serious kidney or liver problems
• Have an intolerance to fructose or have been diagnosed with an intolerance to some sugars

*DO NOT TAKE ANY OTHER PARACETAMOL PRODUCTS WHILST TAKING CALPOL*

Speak to the GP or Pharmacist before use if:

• Your child is taking any other medication, including ones which don’t require a prescription

Especially if taking:

• Metoclopramide or domperidone, which are used to treat nausea or vomiting
• Colestyramine, which is used to treat high cholesterol
• Anticoagulants, or blood thinners, e.g. warfarin
• Anticonvulsants, which are used to treat epilepsy

Additional Important Information for ADULTS if you take FastMelts :

• The oral contraceptive pill can make this product less effective at reducing pain or fever.
• If you drink large amounts of alcohol you should speak to your GP or our pharmacist before taking this product, as you are more likely to experience side effects.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should speak to your GP or our pharmacist before use.

Ingredients:

Active ingredient: Paracetamol 250 mg per tablet.

Other ingredients: Mannitol E421, aspartame E951, benzyl alcohol and glucose. 

How do I take/give Calpol SixPlus FastMelts?

Tablets can be sucked gently until they melt on the tongue. (There is no need to take water as they melt into a pleasant tasting paste that is easily swallowed).

Alternatively, the tablets can be dissolved in a teaspoon of water or milk if preferred.

Dosage:

Age: 6-9 years:

ONE tablet up to 4 times a day

Age: 9-12 years:

TWO tablets up to 4 times a day

Age: 12-16 years: 

TWO to THREE tablets up to 4 times a day

Adults and children over 16 years:

TWO to FOUR tablets up to 4 times a day

• Do not give more than 4 doses in any 24-hour period.
• Leave at least 4 hours between doses.
• Do not give this medicine to your child for more than 3 days without speaking to your doctor or pharmacist.
• Do not give more medicine than the label tells you to.
• Do not give anything else containing paracetamol while giving this medicine.

What are the side effects of Calpol SixPlus FastMelts?

Like all medications, Calpol Six Plus can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. 

• Allergic reactions, (swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, unexplained wheezing, and shortness of breath which may be accompanied by a skin rash or hives.)
• Becoming unusually tired, unexpected bruising or bleeding, and getting more infections such as colds than usual.
• Very rare cases of skin reactions have been reported, this can show symptoms such as skin reddening, blisters, rash

If you experience these or any other side effects while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or pharmacist straight away.
