What is an Aerochamber Plus With Child Mask?
 

The AeroChamber is a spacer device designed to help improve the delivery of metered dose inhaler medications to your child's lungs.

The medium mask on this spacer is suitable for patients who may have difficulty with a mouthpiece or who prefer the security a mask provides. There are a variety of spacer devices available. Which type of spacer a person uses will depend on their age and ability.

How does the Aerochamber Plus work?

The AeroChamber Plus attaches to the inhaler, which gets the treatment straight to the airways in the lungs and increases the effectiveness of the medication.

It also helps to reduce the side effects of the inhaler as it prevents the medication from hitting the back of the throat.

With a mouthpiece on one end of the plastic tube, a soft seal at the opposite end to hold the metered-dose inhaler, and a valve to control the dispensed treatment.

How do I use the Aerochamber Plus Spacer with Child Mask?

Directions:

1. Put your inhaler into the hole at the back of the spacer with the indent for the nose on the mask facing upwards.
2. Breathe out gently and slowly away from the inhaler and spacer until your lungs feel empty and you feel ready to breathe in.
3. Put the mask on your face to make a tight seal over your nose and mouth.

Always follow dosage instructions for your inhaler as advised by your GP.
 

Once a week, soak your spacer in warm soapy water for 15 minutes and allow to air-dry.

What are the side effects of an Aerochamber Plus Spacer with a Child Mask?

The aerochamber itself should not cause any side effects.

However, check the side effects of the inhalers you use.
