What is Dalacin 2% Cream?

Dalacin for BV is an antibiotic vaginal cream that can treat bacterial vaginosis in adult women. The active substance in Dalacín 2% cream is clindamycin phosphate. 

Dalacin cream is an antibiotic vaginal cream that treats bacterial vaginosis (BV) by stopping the growth of bacteria that cause the infection. It usually takes 3 to 7 days to work. Dalacin cream contains clindamycin phosphate, which is an antibiotic that kills the bacteria causing the infection. It can relieve symptoms such as a strong odour, especially after sex, and thin grey or white vaginal discharge.

Dalacin Cream is for vaginal use only; it should be used exactly as advised by a doctor or pharmacist.

The normal dose is 1 full applicator, equal to 5 grams, for 7 nights. 

To apply Dalacin 2% Cream:

1. Wash your hands before and after use.
2. Remove the cap from the tube and screw on a disposable plastic applicator.
3. Squeezing the tube from the bottom, push the cream into the applicator.
4. Once the plunger stops moving, the applicator is full.
5. Unscrew the applicator and replace the cap on the tube.
6. Lie on your back and insert the applicator into the vagina as far up as is comfortable.
7. Slowly push the plunger of the applicator until it stops and all the cream has been emptied.
8. Remove the applicator and dispose of it in the bin immediately.

Dalacin cream is a prescription only medicine. You should not use Dalacin cream if you are allergic to clindamycin or lincomycin, or if the packaging is torn or has passed its expiry date.

Side effects of Dalacin cream include:

• Itching
• Stomach cramps
• Inflammation or infection of the vulva and vagina

You should not engage in vaginal intercourse or use other vaginal products during treatment with Dalacin cream.
